Leopard Inn Wilpattu

Raised on a timber deck and wrapped in glass, the villa looks out over the scrub jungle that gives Sri Lanka’s leopards their name. A private plunge pool sits on the deck, close enough to reach from the bed.

Mornings start early here — the park gates open at first light, and we arrange the jeep and the driver so you are among the first in. Afternoons are for the pool and the shade, before the light turns gold again.

Finding the villa

Where it is
Eluwankulama, on the western approach to Wilpattu National Park, North Western Province.
From Colombo
Roughly four hours by road, north along the coast through Puttalam.
